Lack of sleep can cause the same physical and mental problems that excessive alcohol consumption. The reaction time, accuracy, coordination and attention span of those who stay awake for a period of about 18 or 19 hours are so poor, or worse, that the reactions observed in the drinkers with alcohol concentrations blood of 0.05%, the legal limit in many countries, according to a study in the latest issue of the journal Occupational and Environmental Medicine.
